What Is a Pip?
A pip (percentage in point) is the smallest standard price movement in the forex market. For most currency pairs, a pip equals 0.0001 (the fourth decimal place). For JPY pairs, a pip equals 0.01 (the second decimal place).
Understanding pip values is essential for proper position sizing and risk management. The monetary value of a pip depends on the currency pair, lot size, and your account currency.
For example, one pip on EURUSD with a standard lot (100,000 units) is worth $10 USD. With a mini lot (10,000 units) it is $1, and with a micro lot (1,000 units) it is $0.10.
